Redeemer School stands on Miller street in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. To my delight, I was asked back to photograph the first day of school morning for the 2016-2017 school year.
Students walked through the beautiful morning light to greet old friends and meet new ones.
This little guy wore a back pack to be just like his older sibling.
Some wore dresses hand made with love by their mamas!
The classrooms are filled with natural elements which the students are encouraged to explore.
Redeemer adheres to the Charlotte Mason philosophy for their classrooms. The philosophy respects the child as an individual and respects God's creation of nature.
Teachers encourage children's natural curiosity about the world. Kids learn by making their own discoveries in the nature around them, which teachers use to transition into curriculum lessons.
Outside they have class gardens. The kids help plant and care for them. They pick their organically grown veggies and have them for snack!
The principles and values stay with the students through Middle School.
Here's to the 2016 - 2017 school year!
Have fun exploring the world every day.
Much happiness,
Alisha
