Beatrice's First Birthday Party!

September 7, 2017

It seems like yesterday I was witnessing Beatrice's water birth! Then I saw her a few weeks later in her home sweet home for her lifestyle newborn photoshoot. The day for her first birthday had come so quickly!

Heather brought a wagon along just incase Beatrice needed a ride to cheer her up. What a great idea!!

Her dress was made by Shway Shway

"Kafaa is the owner of Shway Shway, and she is also the very talented seamstress creating each of Shway Shway's pieces. Kafaa fled war-torn Aleppo, Syria with her family in 2014. [...] Many months after applying for refugee status, they learned they had been accepted for resettlement in North Carolina! The very day they arrived in the United States, their infant daughter took her first steps. Kafaa hopes to once again help support her family through sewing."

Beatrice's Birthday Party venue was Little Creek Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It's a splash pad and playground!

Family and friends gathered in the shelter to celebrate with food, cake, and lemonade. They party had a bumble bee theme, for Beatrice!

The cake was made by Bespoke Confections. They "hire adults on the autism spectrum in order for them to gain work experience they need to become a more attractive candidate for future employment".

The cupcake stands are from Pier 1.

Snack items were made by Delicious By Shereen

The honey is from Colony Urban Farm

Casey and Joseph are expecting a baby of their own very soon! Their gender/name reveal was so sweet!

Heather and I are in a facebook group called Waste Free in Winston. There we share ideas on how to live more sustainably. To eliminate a lot of party trash, she used mason jars, reusable plates, unpaper towels, and utensils. What a great idea!!

Her party favors were snack jars for the kids to take home, which are made of eco-friendly materials. She even made one for my son Arlo! I was blown away.

The time for cake has come!

She was hesitant at first...

Not sure if she liked it...

but with a little help from Mom and Dad...

She loved it!
