Halloween Happenings in Winston

Halloween is next weekend! Gosh this year is going fast. I know how busy everyone is at this time, so I've collected a list of family friendly Halloween events in Winston-Salem for you.

Halloween at Old Salem

- Pumpkin Carving (for free!) - Saturday, Oct. 29th 10:00am - 3:00pm

- Trick-or-Treat (for free!) - Sunday, Oct. 30th 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Often the most requested location for photoshoots, Old Salem is stunning this season. Fall evenings spent there will make you feel all warm, cozy and in love with the world.

The Children's Home - Home Maze and Pumpkin Patch

Now through Sunday, Nov. 1

Hours: Sat. 10am - 6pm, Sunday 12 - 6pm

Adults (12+) - $10

Seniors (65+) - $7

Kids (4 - 11) - $5

Children 3 and under - free

When I first moved to North Carolina, my Dad was working at The Children’s Home. We lived on their campus for our first year here. You will LOVE it. We made friends with a horse and an alpaca while we were there. It was like living as Anne of Green Gables.

Trick-or-Treating at SciWorks

Sat. Oct. 22, 1 - 4pm

I haven't been here before, but it looks fun! Here's what they have to say:

"Grab that costume and join us for “spooky science” demos and experiments, Halloween Rock laser shows in the Planetarium (2, 3, and 4 p.m.), and giveaways. We’ll also have trick-or-treating for candy and novelty items (2 – 4 p.m.), so bring a bag for your treats! Included with Museum admission ($9 - $11) and recommended for ages 3 and up."

Truck & Treat at The Children's Museum

Sun. Oct. 30, 1 - 5pm

The Children's Museum is absolutely adorable. It's definitely on my list of places to take Arlo once he's on his feet. Their play areas inside are straight out of a storybook. So fun to explore, I couldn't help but climb in myself! If you stop by for this event, take a look inside! Here's what they have to say:

"Explore more than 25 vehicles, trick-or-treat for novelties and candy, enjoy DJ music, fun activities, a craft, and more! Halloween costumes are encouraged. $5 for members and nonmembers, Museum admission included."

Located in Clemmons, this is the most popular pumpkin patch to go to! It's a short drive from Winston. Great photo opportunities there! I'm itching to get there. Definitely share your photos with me if you go. :)

Sat. Oct. 29, 1-5pm

Trunk or Treat & Games!

Games cost 2 tickets (first 10 tickets free! After that its $5 for 10 tickets)

non-spooky tour of the haunt for $2 (I took this tour, I'm a scaredy cat and I was a spooked a little, but not too much. Great for kids who love a tamed thrill)

My fiancé's brother is the master mind behind Lowgap House of Horrors. It's held in their old school house, now community center, with stands in the valley of the Blueridge Parkway. It's about an hour drive from Winston, but so worth it for the gorgeous views. Head there to play and then go up to the mountains to capture a beautiful fall family photo <3
